Blog: “Just-Do-It” January

This exact time last year, I was on my fifth day of experiencing “Juiceless January,” the month I was to be abstemious. I was so proud of myself for starting 2011 with such discipline. But I wasn’t enjoying myself. I didn’t need alcohol to feel better; I just  missed it.

So, I have designated this month of January, 2012 Just-Do-It January.  And this particular month, I will make a point to “just do it” rather than waste my time ruminating about what I need to do. Thinking about what I need to get done is not only anxiety provoking, it’s also a waste of time.

I certainly have a list of things I need to just do that I didn’t just do last January, except for abstaining from alcohol (of course). Here is a list of things I need to just do thus far:

1.     Plan a budget for 2012.

2.     Scroll through the list of friends on Facebook and de-friend the ones whom I really do not know (sorry to those whom I may de-friend. But, who are you, anyways?).

3.     Buy the long overdue wedding gifts for my friends who have married.

There. That’s it. Only three things on the Just-Do-It list. I know the list seems a bit short. But each of these enlisted tasks is no small challenge.
